World famous pop singer Shakira who was trending on social media a few months back due to her break up with Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique after being in a relationship for over 11 years is back in news again. This time, it is regarding a tax fraud case that was filed against the Spanish artist.
Reports claim that the 45-year-old recently turned down a prosecutor's attempts to settle a case about committing tax fraud. The 'Waka Waka' singer decided to go on a trail and forgo the plea. She is being accused of not paying $15 million in taxes from 2012 to 2014 in Spain. The singer claims that she did not live in Spain during that time period but the court documents say otherwise.
Apparently, she even bought a house in Barcelona at that time. If she ends up being guilty, Shakira may face 8 years of prison time along with a fine of $24 million.
