The cricket governing body in India Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) had earlier announced that two more teams will be added in the 2022 edition of the IPL and the bids for the same were also invited resulting in big names showing interest to have their franchise in the richest cricket tournament.

The latest buzz surrounding the Indian Premier League(IPL) is that the owner of the popular football club Manchester United, Glazer Family, had shown interest in buying one of the IPL in the upcoming event on the 25th of this month hosted by Dubai.

It has been widely reported that the BCCI had pushed the last date of biddings further after the Glazer Family had urged the BCCI to give some more time for bidding and as a result, the last date was pushed ahead reportedly. The list of aspirants in the sale is quite big.

There are certain rules to take part in the sale of the IPL teams. The firm that is taking part in bidding should have an annual turnover of Rs 3 k crore or the person taking part in this should have a net worth of Rs 2,500 crore. To bid for the teams, the aspirants should pay a fee of Rs 10 lakh that is non-refundable.

It is also said that leading firms in the country like Adani, Torrent Pharma, Aurobindo, Sanjiv Goenka Group, Hindustan Times, Jindal Steel, entrepreneur-producer Ronnie Screwvala have also field bids for the teams.

Since its inception in 2007, there is no stopping for the IPL be it the money it generates or the ratings it gets. Players would proffer IPL over tournaments given the fact that they get double or triple the money they get in other tournaments in leagues. Seeing the huge success of IPL, other tournaments like PSL, Caribbean Premier League were started but they could not match IPL.
