Press Council of India Disapproves YCP Govts Order
X
On October 30th, AP Cabinet granted permission for the Secretaries of various Departments to initiate legal proceedings against Journalists/Media Houses reporting or publishing false, baseless and defamatory news items. The Press Council Of India hasn't responded positively to the stern stand taken by the AP Government. A press release was issued in this regard taking suo-motu cognizance on Government Order RT No.2430.

Press Council Of India Chairman Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad opined threatening to prosecute Media Personnel shall demoralise the Journalists in large and any such move is like curtailing the freedom of the press.

Taking suo-motu cognizance of the issue, The Press Council Of India directed the AP Government to file a reply on the concerns expressed in this matter. How does YCP Government react to the objection raised by the Press Council of India?

Media Houses and Journalists are hoping to see the State Government withdraw the Government Order No.2430 as early as possible so that they could do their job without any restrictions and fears. What's in the mind of CM Jagan???
