With the tenure of acting head coach of the Indian National cricket team Ravi Ravi Shastri coming to an end, the debate on who will replace him has started. A lot of names including foreign coaches and former Indian players have emerged. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) had zeroes on an iconic Indian player for the coach post.

Former Indian player Rahul Dravid who is currently grooming the younger players was picked as the new coach. He will train the national team for a period of two years, 2023. Rahul Dravid will render his services as the head coach till the 2023 World Cup.

It is said that Rahul Dravid will take charge as the new coach of the Indian team after the 2021 edition of the World Cup which will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). India will take on Pakistan in their first match in the World Cup tournament.

It has been widely reported that former Indian skipper, current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah were instrumental in convincing Rahul Dravid to take up the new job. Despite trying for the same earlier too, the BCCI could not convince him. But this time, the governing body for cricket in India had managed to make Rahul Dravid accept the role.

Rahul Dravid accepting to take up the Coach role is surely a piece of cheer-worthy news for Indian Cricket fans. Rahul Dravid is the epitome of skills and technique. With him being the head coach, India is expected to improve their overseas records.

The wall of Indian Cricket, Mr. Dependable Rahul Dravis is rendering his services at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. As a coach of India A and U-19, young talents like Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, and others have shined and are representing Indian national cricket.

The BBCI had made three unsuccessful attempts in the past to convince Rahul Dravid to serve as the head coach for the Indian cricket team. However, he had cited reasons like family responsibilities and others to accept BCCI’s offer. Thanks to the strong will of the BCCI, Rahul Dravid accepted the new role.
