State Election Commission issued notification for 129 Municipalities, the polling would be held on January 22. The results will be declared on January 25. The main contenders for the municipal elections were TRS and congress. There would be a tough fight between the two parties.

The rebels may play a crucial role in the elections. The Telangana Chief Minister kept a review meeting and said that it is the responsibility of the MLA's to select the correct candidates. He also said that there should be no rebels.

Two days back, a TRS leader Durga Dayakar Reddy went to Telangana Chief Minister, for Peerzadiguda Mayor ticket but KCR rejected to give the ticket to him. Later, Congress leader and MP Revanth Reddy went to Dayakar's house and asked him to join in Congress and offered him Peerzadiguda ticket, he also gave the responsibilities of the Congress party.

After that TRS decided not to reveal the candidate's list till January 14th. This will give candidates less time to campaign for the election. From TRS party six to seven candidates filed B-forms and from the Congress party, three to four candidates filed the B-forms, for each Municipal seat.

A Large number of rebels filed nominations from Jagitala, Korutala, Metpally, Raikal and Dharmapuri municipalities. On the last day of the nominations, 191 members of TRS party have filed the nominations.
