The TRS is always very alert about any election symbol that closely or even remotely resembles it election symbol - the car. Remember how it went all the way to the election commission to ensure that symbols like tractor and autorickshaw were blocked in Telangana? The TRS believes that rural illiterate voters could get confused between car and these symbols and might inadvertently press the button on these symbols.
But, TRS forgot to get the road-roller symbol blocked. Wily war-horse Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has taken advantage of this and got on independent fielded in the election with this symbol. The result? Road-roller got around 27973, which is almost equal to the once-strong Left parties. In every round, the independent candidate had got around 2000 votes leaving everyone baffled. Know what is the victory margin of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy? A mere 5219 votes. This means, even if half of the votes that went to the road-roller had gone to the TRS' car symbol, party candidate Boora Narsaiah Goud could have won easily. Narsaiah Goud got 5,27576 votes, while winning candidate Komatireddy got 532795 votes.
KCR, who quickly learns lessons from his defeats, will first rush to the election commission now. Why? To get tractor symbol blocked.
