Roja's Rakhi Trick

Sometimes even small gestures by politicians make big statements. Nagari MLA Roja's simple act of tying a rakhi to senior YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy is now making such a big political statement. Many political pundits are interpreting this as a clever move aimed at reducing the tensions between she and her arch foe in the party Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy.
Peddireddy is all powerful in Chittoor politics and has the eyes and ears of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Unfortunately, Roja always found herself in the crosshairs with Peddireddy. That the two did not get along very well is public knowledge and some within the YSRCP used this conflict to attack Roja and get away. In a clever move, Roja used raksha bandhan festival to reduce tensions with Peddireddy family. She tied a rakhi to Peddireddy's son and MP Mithun Reddy and took his blessings. Political pundits now expect that the opposition from the elder peddireddy will come down now and Roja will have it easy in Nagari constituency.
Roja had in the past complained against interference by Peddireddy and has even taken up the issue with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who reportedly advised her to resolve her differences with Peddireddy.
