Royal faceoff in the offing in Vizianagaram?
X
Vizianagaram royalty has never fought itself. Till now, it fought others. It has a rivalry with the Bobbili royalty. But it has always stayed united. But, it now appears certain that two members of the Vizianagaram royal clan may fight one another. It is becoming increasingly likely that Ashok Gajapathiraju's daughter Aditi and his brother Ananda Gajapathi Raju's daughter Sanchayitha Gajapathi Raju may fight against one another in 2024 assembly elections.

Sanchayita already had enough run-ins with Ashok Gajapathi and Aditi over the chairpersonship of Mansas Trust. While Ashok Gajapathi questioned Sanchayita's locus standi, the latter verbally criticised her father's brother. For now, the dispute is settled with the courts rejecting her claim to be the chairperson of the Mansas Trust. But sources say that Sanchayita might join the YSRCP and could contest against Aditi in 2024.

Aditi contested elections in 2019 and lost to Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy by over 6000 votes. Soon after this defeat, Aditi fell silent and became inactive in politics. She made a comeback with the local body elections, where she campaigned vigorously for the TDP candidates.

Aditi is likely to contest from Vizianagaram in 2024 elections. If sources serve us right, then Sanchayita too could emerge as the YSRCP candidate. This would be a royal face-off. One general complaint against Aditi is that she is very soft and mild-mannered. Her presence does not grab eyeballs the way Sanchayita grabs. Sanchayita is feisty, vocal, articulate and assertive, unlike Aditi who is softer in approach. The TDP workers want Aditi to be more aggressive and assertive.
