Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahender Reddy has submitted a report on how the 10-day lockdown was implemented and the action taken against the violators in the same period to the High Court.

In the report, the DGP said, as many as 4,31,823 cases were filed on the Covid-19 guideline violators. Cases were filed against 3,39,412 people for not wearing face masks and Rs 31 crore was collected as a penalty from the violators between May 1 to 14, the report said.

Coming to the cases, as many as 22,560 cases were filed against the violators, on the grounds of not following physical distance outdoors.

It has to be noted that the Telangana government has issued orders on the 11th of April stating that those who don’t wear facemask outdoors will be slapped with a fine of Rs 1,000.

Looking at the report submitted by the Telangana Police boss, the High Court expressed its satisfaction and lauded the Police Department for its effort in enforcing the lockdown guidelines

Adding further, the DGP said, as many as 98 cases were filed against those who were indulged in drugs black marketing, and illegal sale of other related materials.57 help desks were set up near the state-run hospitals for assistance, he said.
