SIT Probe Rattles Corrupt Revenue Officials In Amaravati
X
Some leaders of the Telugu Desam and some government revenue officials who were involved in the Capital area land scam are a worried lot. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the state government has speeded up the investigation into the land scam. All the deputy collectors who were involved in the land—poling during the TDP rule, are now under the scanner.

Already deputy collector Madhuri has been arrested and has been sent in remand. It is likely that more collectors would be questioned and could even be arrested. The government is claiming that those who have convinced the farmers of the capital region to go in for land-pooling were rewarded with illegal registration of their lands. This is a huge irregularity as government lands and kuntas have been illegally registered in the names of the touts.

The official investigations have shown that at least 150 acres of land has been usurped and illegally registered in the name of the brokers, who were mainly connected to the TDP ruling establishment. Preliminary investigations have shown that even the Grama Kantham lands, which are supposed to belong to the village, have been alienated by these touts. Several officials have helped the TDP leaders by allowing illegal registrations.
