Is the TRS too following the footsteps of the BJP? Is it also trying to reach out to the Hindu voters in a big way? If the latest developments are any indication, the TRS too is trying to show itself as a party of the Hindus. The newly elected mayor will take charge as the mayor of the GHMC by visiting a Hindu temple.
The first thing that Gadwal Vijayalakshmi is going to do before taking oath is to visit the Bhagyalakshmi temple in Charminar area. It may be noted that though around for decades, the Bhagyalakshmi temple was largely forgotten by the politicians. It shot into limelight only after Bandi Sanjay took over as the BJP president for Telangana. Sanjay made high profile visits to the temple and soon Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid a visit to the temple. After the GHMC results were out, all the winning corporators of the BJP offered prayers to the Goddess Bhagyalakshmi before taking oath. Not to be undone, even Kalwakuntla Kavitha paid a high-profile visit to the temple recently.
Now, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, who will take charge of the Mayor's office on Monday too is visiting the Bhagyalakshmi temple early in the day. By doing this, the TRS hopes to blunt the BJP's Hindutwa weapon. If the TRS too starts visiting the same temple, it would rob the BJP of its Hindutwa plank.
