The Shiv Sena party which is a tall party in Maharashtra suffered a big shock. The Election commission allotted the party's name and symbol to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's camp. It is a big blow to the party that can control state politics no matter who is in power.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has been fighting hard to undo the allotment of party name and symbol. Uddhav's camp moved the Apex Court in this regard and filed a petition with a bench led by the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. The top election body, the Election Commission of India reacted to the issue.

During the arguments, the Election Commission backed its decision and said that the decision to allot the party name and symbol to Eknath Shinde is as per the judicial capacity and it has addressed the issue the Uddhav camp had mentioned as far as the issue is concerned.

Several key issues were mentioned during the hearing. Lawyers representing Uddhav said that the majority of legislators are supporting him and allotting the name and symbol to the other group is not justified.

The Election Commission countered this and said that the decision was taken after considering many issues and it was well within the judicial grounds. “It was a well-reasoned order and covers all the issues raised by the Uddhav camp,” the Election Commission said.

The Shiv Sena party suffered a crisis with rebel leader Eknath Shinde starting a fight and taking the MLAs to his side. The issue resulted in the Thackeray-vs-Shinde fight. The EC allotted the party name and symbol to Eknath Shinde's camp.
