Shiv Sena Workers Oppose Urmila Matondkar As MLC

Shiv Sena's diehard backers and dedicated workers are aghast at the party's decision to send former actress Urmila Matondkar to the Maharashtra legislative assembly. They are unhappy that trusted and steadfast party workers have been ignored and a turncoat like Urmila is being made an MLC.
They point out that Urmila was a Congress candidate in 2019 elections and had criticised the Shiv Sena to no end. She has made several allegations against the party and called it communal. After her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, she blamed the Congress for her inability to win and resigned from the party. Since then, Urmila has been quite low key. She has come to the limelight only recently when she countered the allegations made by firebrand actress Kangna Ranaut against the Maharashtra Government.
The party workers say that by nominating Urmila, the Shiv Sena has ignored the loyal party workers. They say that there are several eligible leaders in the party and there was no reason why Shiv Sena should choose her. As of now, the party has decided to send her to the legislative council from the governor's quota. Maharashtra has 12 governor quota MLCs, whom the governor can appoint.
