Over 2,000 Applications were received by BCCI for the Team India Head Coach Post which will fall vacant after the upcoming West Indies Tour. Not many big names have been challenging the incumbent Ravi Shastri.

Robin Singh who coached Deccan Charges & Mumbai Indians, Lalchand Rajput who is the coach of Zimbabwe Cricket Team are the two prominent names among the Indian Contenders for Head Coach Job.

Former South African Cricketer Gary Kirsten, Former Aussie All-Rounder Tom Moody, Former New Zealand and Kings XI Punjab Head Coach Mike Hesson are the three strong contenders among the foreigners. Gary Kirsten will have an edge over the others as he was the head coach of Team India during 2011 World Cup.

Surprisingly, Former Sri Lankan Cricketer and Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene who was initially interested in coaching Team India hasn't sent his application so far.

Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) might take more time to evaluate the numerous applications forwarded by agents of Aspirants. Interviews will be conducted after short-listing the Candidates. The major battle is going to be between Gary Kirsten and Ravi Shahtri. Possibility of extending the term of Ravi Shastri can't be ruled out.
