Big stars from the Film industry venturing into politics is not a new thing in Tamil Nadu. Starting with M. G. Ramachandran Jayalalithaa and Kalaignar Karunanidhi and recent Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan have followed the trend and tried their luck in the political arena.

Another name that is constantly related to politics from Kollywood is Thalapathy Vijay. For a few years there have been reports that he would join the list and jump into politics very soon. But that didnt happen. However he took a baby step in politics last year when his fans contested the local body elections.

As another big move in politics Actor Vijay who enjoys a massive fan following in the state had reportedly given his nod for his fans club to contest the forthcoming urban local body elections in Tamil Nadu. However the fan club members will run the polls as independent candidates.

Not just allowing the fan club members to contest the polls Actor Vijay had reportedly let them use his photos while they campaign for the local body polls. The polls are scheduled to be held next week and all eyes are on the polls.’

The political observers are keenly observing the forthcoming polls to see what impact the fan club can create in the polls. In the elections held last year, the fan club has created a sensation and won over 100 wards. This added fuel to the opinion that Vijay will eventually venture into politics.

Vijay fans are also hoping that the members of All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam AITVMI who will contest the forthcoming Urban Local Body polls will recreate the performance like they did last year. The fan club members will run the polls using the name Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam and they were also allowed by Vijay to use his pictures.

The much awaited Urban Local Bodies elections in Tamil Nadu are slated to commence on the 19th of next month. The elections will be held in one phase and three days after the elections the vote counting process will be started and the results will be made out.
