Supreme Court Gives Another Blow To AP Government!

The Andhra Pradesh government is facing a lot of criticism for the way it is handling the Tirumala temple. All the charges like Seva tickets and the prices of room rentals in the temple town were also increased. The Hindu outfits condemned this.
The state government now faced a big blow in the Supreme Court. In connection with the Ahobilam mutt temple issue, the Apex Court advised the government to not interfere in matters of religious institutions and let them deal with that. The top court also supported the verdict of the High Court of Telangana.
Going into detail, the Andhra Pradesh government decided to appoint the executive officer of the Ahobilam mutt. However, the matter was challenged in the high court. Hearing the petition the High Court said that the mutt has the power to decide who should be appointed as the Chief Officer.
The Andhra Pradesh government knocked on the doors of the Supreme challenging the order issued by the High Court. A bench of justices comprising S K Kaul and A S Oka said that the state government holds no authority in appointing the executive officer of the mutt.
Supporting what the High Court of Andhra Pradesh said, the bench of the Supreme Court told the state government to let the religious people deal with the appointment of the executive officer.
"Let the religious people handle this. In every case under Article 136 (special leave to appeal by the Supreme Court), we need not try to settle the law. Sorry," the bench said during the arguments.
