The comic shows and stand-up shows that are meant to provide some entertainment are now serving political purposes with the shows attracting political controversies. The trend of boycotting and threatening stand-up comedians has reached its way to Telangana as well.
Telangana firebrand BJP MLA Raja Singh who has been threatening that he would not let the controversial comedian Munawar Faruqui perform in Hyderabad has almost done what he said. Knowing that the stand-up comedian would perform at the Shilpakala Vedika tomorrow, he reached the place and created a ruckus.
He made all the planning to burn the set of Munawar Faruqui at the Shilpakala Vedika and tried to reach the spot. However, the cops swung into action and took him into preventive custody. He was arrested just a while ago by the cops. His supporters tried to have an argument with the cops.
But the cops did not stop and went ahead and arrested the Goshamahal MLA. He was shifted to a nearby police station by the cops. Even when he was being shifted to the police station, Raja Singh said that the stand-up show should be stopped as the comedian has hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
Munawar Faruqui became the target of Hindus, BJP, and the other Right Wing members due to his disrespectful comments towards Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. After he cracked jokes about the deities, the right-wing lashed out at him. Multiple cases were filed against him and he was sent to jail as well.
