TDP Conspiracy To Whip Up Communal Passions Busted

Amid tensions over attacks on Hindu temples, a TDP conspiracy to whip up communal tensions has come to light in the Santabommali mandal of Srikakulam district. The TDP workers had lifted a damaged Nandi idol from the ancient Paleshwara Swamy temple and installed it on the pedestal built in the nearby junction.

Interestingly, the pedestal was meant to install a YSR statue. The TDP leaders tried to put the dilapidated Nandi statue on the same pedestal. If the YSRCP workers remove it, this could be portrayed in the media as an attack on Hindu religion.

However, their whole game-plan boomeranged when the act of lifting of the damaged Nandi and placing it on the pedestal at the junction was caught on he CCTV cameras installed in the junction area as also in the temple. Caught on camera were close associates of Atchen Naidu. Among them was the news correspondent of a prestigious daily known for its pro-TDP links. He has been identified as Vattikulla Kirthi Kumar.

The police registered a case against 22 persons and arrested six members, including 4 members of the TDP and two members of the temple committee. The others are on the run. The police said that there was a concerted attempt to whip up communal tensions and defame the ruling YSRCP.
