The badly mauled, bruised and battered Telugu Desam managed to escape complete political slaughter by a whisker. It has somehow won three MP seats with hair-breadth majority in Andhra Pradesh.
A majority of at least 25000 salvages some prestige for a party in the Lok Sabha elections. Margins of less than 10000 are just fig leafs to cover up the bare essentials. The TDP won three seats by such wafer thin majority. Srikakulam, Vijayawada and Guntur by less than eight thousand votes. In all these constituencies, the majorities see-sawed throughout the counting, giving jitters to the candidates. In several rounds, the TDP candidates trailed. Rammohan Naidu had won by 8000 votes. In Vijayawada, Kesineni Nani too got around 8000 votes. Galla jayadev had won by just 5000 votes.
This was quite a scare for these three MPs, who were most vocal against Narendra Modi in Parliament.
