TDP thinks It can still Contest In 82 Seats For GHMC Elections

Till a few years ago, it ruled the roost in the GHMC. In fact, its candidates were mayors for several times. It had a great base with lot of dedicated workers and leaders. But, all this is a thing of the past. The Telugu Desam is today a poor shadow of its former self. Even in the last elections, the TDP was a powerful force and along with the BJP, it got around 24 per cent votes. But, there is no enthusiasm among the TDP workers this time.
This time, the TDP wants to contest only from those divisions where it has some presence. In places where it has lost its base, it will not contest. The party wants to contest from 82 divisions – 43 in Hyderabad and 39 in Secunderabad. The TDP sources are claiming that there is a very good response for the party tickets and say that at least three candidates per constituency are applying for the party ticket. The party is also preparing the manifesto for the GHMC elections.
After a long time, there is some activity in the TDP headquarters in the Jubilee Hills. Some party workers are gathering at the office these days. Earlier, the office was almost closed with hardly any footfalls.
