It is known that earlier, Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) MP Maloth Kavitha, who represents the Mahabubad constituency, attracted jail sentence on the grounds of indulging in electoral malpractices. The case traces back to 2019.

Challenging the verdict of the local court, the ruling party MP had knocked on the doors of the Telangana High Court and the Court heard the petition on Friday, and the orders issued by the lower court were quashed by the High Court.

Besides dismissing the case, the High Court also said that the MP need not serve jail imprisonment as announced by the lower court. The High Court orders came as a big sigh of relief for the MP.

Going into details, the MP and one Shaukath Ali Khan, a close aide of the MP, were directed to observe jail imprisonment for a period of six months by a trial court that deals with the cases pertaining to MPs and MLAs. The Hyderabad Special Court also directed the duo to pay a penalty of Rs 10,000 each.

The duo was released on bail by the court after they paid the penalty imposed by the trial court. Now the MP had knocked on the doors of the High Court and the court had canceled the orders issued by the trial court to serve jail sentences.

When the Lok Sabha elections were held back in 2019, the MP and her associate indulged in malpractice in the elections by trying to influence the votes by giving money to them. Based on a complaint lodged on the duo, an investigation was carried out at the trial court slapped them with a jail sentence after declaring them guilty in the case.

The issue came to the limelight when Shaukath Ali Khan was caught red-handed by the squad in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. Based on the information, the officials caught him along with cash, and a case was filed against him.

When he was quizzed by the officials over the money distribution for the voters during the election campaign, Ali Khan told the officials that he had distributed money for the voters for the MP. When MP and Ali Khan were produced before the court, the confession of Ali Khan was informed to the court.
