It is known that the Telangana government has lifted the lockdown restrictions including the night curfew saying that the Covid situation is under control.

However, the reality has something else to say.The Telangana Hospitals and Nursing Home Association (THANA) said that the hospital admissions across the state are going up and the oxygen bed facilities in around 12 hospitals in Hyderabad alone were filled.

THANA representatives have urged the state government to announce a rate for the bed facilities in the hospitals which will have a less burden on the hospital authorities and the patients as well.

Expressing concern over the alarming situation, THANA maintained that a few hospitals won't have beds and the beds at the other hospitals will also start to get occupied given the rise in the Covid cases.

Taking these developments into consideration, the government should step in and take the required measures to be prepared for the possible third wave of the novel Coronavirus, THANA representatives said.

The shocking revelations on the availability at the hospitals came when the ICMR was warning that the third wave might hit India in August.

Samiran Panda, a scientist at the ICMR opined that the third wave is likely to hit India in August, but it might have lesser impact compared to the second wave.

Panda gave four primary reasons which might be a reason for the emergence of the third wave. The immunity power created during the first and second waves getting weaker, the emergence of variants that can either overpower or spread rapidly, and the early lifting of lockdown restrictions might cause the third wave, he said.

He opined that the third wave can be restricted easily if strict measures were taken and expressed his concerns over people not taking the virus seriously and not following the Covid protocols.

Sameeran Panda urged everyone to wear facemasks, maintain personal hygiene and observe physical distance with others when they are out in public places.

A few states are currently under lockdown restrictions in the wake of a sudden spike in fresh Coronavirus cases. On the other hand, the massive vaccination drive to administer vaccine doses to the beneficiaries is going on across the country.
