Tamilians are fond of their mother tongue and they give importance to their mother tongue. The Tamil Nadu Director General of Police J.K. Tripathy has issued a circular asking the police personnel in the state to maintain all records in Tamil.

Recently, the Tamil Nadu Police Department has taken a key decision. Tamil has made mandatory in the Police Department. DGP suggested that the signatures on the attendance list should be done in Tamil. From now on, office records should be maintained in Tamil. The DGP has instructed that the records be maintained in Tamil in the State Headquarters, Police Commissionerate and Superintendent's offices. Name boards, office stamps should be in Tamil. DGP said the word 'kaval' should be seen on police vehicles. DGP said such measures were necessary for the protection of the mother tongue.
