Target 175: YSRCP out to replace current incharges in 24 assembly seats

The ruling YSRCP has begun calibrating its strategy for the North Andhra region. The work has begun with an eye on the 2024 assembly elections. The party is said to be focusing on the 24 seats that it could not win in 2019. It ceded 23 seats to the TDP and one to the Jana Sena. The party wants to pay attention to these seats this time as part of its Target 175.

Insiders reveal that the party is read to change the constituency incharges if need be to improve the party's prospect. Vizag West has been a thorn in YSRCP's flesh as it has returned the TDP both in 2014 as well as 2019. It has changed the constituency incharge. In 2014, former minister Dadi Veerabhadra Rao's son Dadi Ratnakar fought and lost the election. In 2019, former MLA Malla Vijayaprasad was given the ticket. But, he failed to win.

Now, he has been replaced with deputy mayor of GVMC Jiyyaani Sridhar. He is a Kapu and has not lost an election as a corporator. In Vizag South too, the party leadership reportedly has no faith in sitting MLA Vasupalli Ganesh, who had won on TDP ticket, but joined the YSRCP later. He is likely to go back to the TDP at the last minute. Hence the party is looking for an alternative here.

In Vizag East, the party is getting a survey done on the performance of current incharge A Vijayalakshmi. In Srikakulam too the party has to choose between Duvvada Srinu and Killi Kruparani. In East Godavari too, the party is likely to find replacement for the current incharges.
