Telangana Municipal Polls will be happening on January 22nd, 2020. Telangana State Election Commission is going to issue a notification in this regard on January 7th. Nomination Process would begin from January 8th itself. Soon after the announcement about Municipal Polls on Monday, The Model Code of Conduct came into effect. Elections are going to happen in 120 Municipalities and 10 Corporations.
Uttam Kumar Reddy accused Telangana State Election Commission of acting in favour of the Ruling TRS. He found fault with the Election Schedule and pledged to move the High Court against Election Commission. 'How can EC issue the notification without confirming Reservations? While the notification was issued on December 23rd, EC is getting ready to announce reservations on January 6th. Nominations will be allowed on 8th, 9th and 10th. Why the Election Commission is doing this? Without knowing about the reservations, How could Parties finalise candidates and that too in just 1 day? This is a ploy to provide undue favours to the Ruling Party'.
The TPCC Chief opined mood of the people in Urban Areas isn't in favour of either TRS or BJP. 'Ruling Party is trying to influence the voters with money. Schemes like Rythu Bandhu haven't been implemented properly. No measures were taken to address unemployment. How could this Government seek votes without any development? People aren't in a mood to vote for BJP which is ruining the country,' said Uttam.
