Quite contrary to what the Chief Secretary and the Chief Minister said, the Telangana government has decided to impose a ten-day lockdown in the state starting from tomorrow.
The Telangana cabinet has met today for a crucial meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao aka KCR on Tuesday. The cabinet has opted for the lockdown.
According to the information, the lockdown will stay in place for the coming ten days. During the lockdown period, the daily activities will be exempted between 6 AM TO 10 AM. Post 10 AM no activities will be allowed and everything will come to a standstill.
During the 20-hour lockdown, the media, electricity department, gas services, and doctors, nurses, and other frontline workers will be permitted to render their services without any restrictions.
It has been widely reported that except for the essential services, no business and other works will not be permitted during the state. We will get more details, once the govt issues lockdown guidelines.
It is said that the lockdown will not affect the vaccine numbers and more doses are expected to reach Telangana so that the vaccination drive will be carried out without any issues.
If the state received the vaccine doses from the Centre, Telangana is expected to start the third phase of the vaccination drive to vaccinate the beneficiaries between the age group of 18 and 45.
On the other hand, Telangana added as many as 4,826 new cases in the past 24 hours and the total caseload rose to 5,02,187. With 7,754 beating the virus, the total recoveries have mounted to 4,36,619. Telangana reported a total of 2771 Covid fatalities so far, while the state has 62,797 cases.
