Buoyed up by the lukewarm performance of the BJP in the two state assembly elections, the Congress has planned nationwide protests. All the national leaders have been asked to make themselves available for the protest programmes. Accordingly all big names have expressed readiness to join the protests. But, one leader is conspicuous by his absence. No marks for guessing! That's Rahul Gandhi.
Barely 23 days after his foreign tour of Bangkok, the former Congress president has vanished from the scene – this time on a tour of Indonesia. The official announcement is that he has left for some training. How long will this tour be? Well! No Congress leader knows.
The last time he left for a foreign tour was on October 6, ahead of the elections to the assemblies of both Haryana and Maharashtra. Rahul joined the Congress campaign only at the last minute and barely addressed seven public meetings in both the states. In one of these meetings, he doubled up for Sonia Gandhi, who could not make it to the meeting because of her ill health. The Congress is not coming forth with any explanations about Rahul Gandhi's frequent escapades.
