Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of the most successful skippers to have led the team is celebrating his 40th birthday today. From celebrities to cricket boards to fans, everyone is wishing the ace player on his birthday. Under his captaincy, India recorded many memorable wins in India and overseas as well.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who entered International cricket in 2004 had failed to create an impact in his first four matches. It was his fifth match, which showed the world how he can change a match with his aggressive batting.

Dhoni has caught everyone's attention with his maiden century in 2005. 'Helicopter shot king' Dhoni made 148 runs against Pakistan in Visakhapatnam during Pakistan's tour of India. There has been no looking back for him since then.

After proving himself as a batsman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni established himself as one of the successful captains by winning the three ICC Trophies, T20 World Cup, 50-over World Cup, and Champions Trophy. Under his captaincy, India has won the first tri-series in Australia.

Even though he is hailed as the best captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's career has two smudges in his career that lasted for around one and a half decades. The first one is that Dhoni never scored a century overseas.

The other one remains the infamous fixing allegations against the CSK led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Due to the same allegations, the "Whistle podu" franchise was banned for two years. During the same period, Dhoni played for the Rising Pune Supergiant team.

Despite the two blots, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is still one of the most loved players in the game and his fanbase and following remain the same. He retired from international cricket in 2020 and continues to play in IPL.

He enjoys a good track record in the Indian Premier League too. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of the successful captains has won three trophies and holds the record of the highest wins as the skipper in the tournament. Under his captaincy, CSK has won 114 games. The other record he holds is, taking the team for the highest times with 10 consecutive semi-finals/playoffs.
