All seems to be not well with the Maha Vikas Aghadhi and the pompous swearing-in of Uddhav Thackeray. Some senior Congress leaders, who were unhappy with the alliance with the Shiv Sena stayed away. Both Sonia Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh stayed away due to health reasons. Even Rahul Gandhi was conspicuous by his absence. But, their absence made 80-year-old Sharad Pawar the biggest draw at the swearing-in. Many Congress leaders were unhappy at this.

Party's former spokesperson and heavy weight Sanjay Nirupam, a former Shiv Sainik, was very unhappy and did not attend the swearing-in. He tweeted pics from Goa, where he attended a wedding. From the beginning, he was opposed to the alliance with Shiv Sena. Similarly, there were no representatives from Trinamool Congress. Several other opposition parties too stayed away from the swearing in. The TMC spokesperson said that the party did not get an invite for the swearing in.

Interestingly, outgoing CM Devendra Fadnavis was present at the swearing in. He was seen chatting and smiling. He greeted Supriya Sule and other NCP leaders warmly. He sat through the whole programme and shook hands with everyone. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Uddhav Thackeray on becoming the CM of Maharashtra.
