TRS Hits The Road Against Centre Over Paddy Tussle!

The political scenario in Telangana had changed at once after the Huzurabad by-election. After the election result, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) had launched an all-out attack on the Union government. Telangana Chief Minister KCR himself addressed back-to-back press briefings at Pragathi Bhavan and waged a war against the Centre on paddy procurement.

The ruling party in the state staged a protest against the ruling party at the Centre. The protests were called by the TRS leaders with a demand to the BJP rule Centre that it should procure the paddy that was grown in Telangana. The iconic Dharna chowk became the protesting site for the TRS. The entire area turned pink with TRS flags.

Protesting for the interests of the state and the farmers is an appreciable act. However, the reception the TRS cadre and party leaders got during the protest had raised many eyeballs. The same was not the case with the protests called by opposition parties.

In earlier instances when the opposition parties announced protests against the state government's decisions and schemes, the police had placed the leaders under house arrest calling the act as precautionary measures to see that no unrest takes place. But when the state government hit the roads for the protests, no such issues were faced by the ruling party leaders.

Forget about placing the leaders under arrest, the cops deployed at the protesting site are facing allegations of diverting the traffic at the roads that lead to Dharna chowk as a bid to enable the leaders to carry out the protest.

Talking about the protests, the call given by the party leadership was well received from the party workers and cadre.

Telangana Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and others took part in the Dharna and sat at the protesting site. Holding placards, the leaders have demanded the Union government to procure the paddy from the farmers in Telangana.

Taking the cue from the TRS chief, Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao, party key leaders, and the party cadre have actively taken part in the protests. The leaders led the protests from the front in the area they belong to. The IT Minister led the protest in Siricilla.
