The microblogging site Twitter showing the Leh region as part of China has created a political storm in India. The Union Government slammed the platform for the misrepresentation of the map.

The Social networking service Twitter has submitted a verbal apology before the joint parliamentary committee (JPC) of India on Thursday for showing the Leh region as a part of Dragon country China.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) which was formed to examine the recommendations to the Personal Data Protection Bill 2019 has directed the networking platform to apologize in writing and produce an affidavit over the Leh location tag.

After submitting the apology letter, a spokesperson of the Microblogging site said they respect the sensitivities of Indians and maintained that they are committed to working with the Indian government.

The representatives of the networking site who appeared before the JPC on the 28th of October apologized over the location tag. Citing this as a severe offense, the officials asked them to apologize in writing.
