Amid confrontation with the union government over the policy issues, the microblogging site Twitter had removed the blue tick to Vice President Venkaiah Naidu's Twitter handle and resorted to it later.
After the removal of the "blue tick" had kickstarted a controversy, the social media giant restored and said that the blue tick was removed as the dignitary's account was reported inactive.
The Vice President's office reportedly found fault with Twitter behaving this way by removing the blue tick of a dignitary, who holds the second Constitutional position without giving prior intimation.
Media reports claimed that, with the growing pressure from the Vice-President's office, Twitter took a backstep and restored the blue tick, which is an indication of verification from the social media giant.
It is also said that the Centre reportedly asked the social media giant to comply with the rules. Twitter was allegedly asked to comply with the guidelines that come under Section 79 of the IT Act.
The Narendra Modi government and social media giant have been at loggerheads since February this year after the microblogging site was asked to take down the content that was against the Prime Minister. The difficulties have grown between the two parties since then.
