Two former MPs in coal - scam tainted companies?
X
The political and business circles are abuzz with reports that two former MPs, one of them a media baron, are involved in a company which is accused of being involved in the coal scam. The issue came to light when the CBI officials raided the company's offices in Secunderabad and Ramtek in Maharashtra. Both the MPs are directors in the company.

The company, Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills, has bought coal from the Western Coal Fields at subsidised prices for its 25 MW captive power generation plant and diverted into the market to sell it at a higher price. The CBI is now probing this case. Among the directors of the company are four-time MP Surender Reddy, who was the former chairperson of the Hyderabad Race Club. His son Vinayak Reddy is married to hero Venkatesh's daughter Ashritha. The second MP is G Vivek, the Congressman-turned-BJP leader. He now runs a popular media house that publishes a daily and runs a TV channel.

Though the level of their involvement in the company's day-to-day affairs and their financial commitments to the company are not known, these two MPs may have to brace up for some unwanted negative publicity in the days to come. The TRS is bound to use it to nail G Vivek, who has recently left the TRS to join the BJP.
