As announced earlier, the massive vaccination drive to vaccinate the public against the Coronavirus pandemic across India will be started from the 16th of January, within a few hours from now.

The DCGI approved two indigenous vaccines, Covishield by Serum Institute of India and Covaxin by Bharat Biotech for emergency use. The vaccine doses have already been supplied to the states.

Clearing all the airs on who will take the responsibility for any mishaps that take place during the vaccination drive, the Centre said the makers of the vaccine will be held responsible for any sort of mishaps.

According to the media reports, the union government, which purchased the vaccines from the two vaccine makers made it clear to the companies that they will be held responsible for any adverse effects of the vaccines.

The situation in foreign countries aerie quite different. The governments in the US, the UK, Canada, Singapore, EU reportedly came forward to take the liability for any adverse effects of the vaccines.

The Indian vaccine makers approached the Centre to protect them from the lawsuits. But the government stood training on its decisions and said, the vaccine makers should take the liability.
