With Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s controversial statement Sai Baba's birthplace is Pathri in Parbhani, not Shirdi. The Shirdi temple is closed.

"We have announced to close Shirdi against rumours, from January 19," B Wakchaure of Saibaba Sansthan Trust said.

"A meeting of villagers will be convened on Saturday evening to discuss the issue. Devotees will not face any difficulty if they come to Shirdi," he added.

Now yesteryear actor Vijaya Chander, AP Film Development Corporation Chairman who is known for his film based on the history of lord Sai Baba responded on this controversy and lashed out at Maharashtra government.

"No one could found out how Lord Sai Baba was born. The Shirdi Sai Baba temple is continuing for hundreds of years, how come the new government can remove the temple now. All of a sudden why the government decided to change the temple now. Please don't add political color to it," Vijay Chandar said.
