Vijayawada named after NTR,Vangaveeti family member opposes!

Going by the election promise, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had begun his exercise to add more districts for a better administration. Based on the Parliamentary Constituencies, the districts were made. However, the exercise raised a few objections at the inception level itself.
The Andhra Pradesh government had decided to make the temple city Vijayawada into a district and the newly formed district was given the name of matinee idol and former Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. But an AP BJP leader made his observations on the name change.
Though NTR fans and Telugu Desam Party(TDP) sympathisers are lauding the government's decision on naming Vijayawada district after the prominent leader who fought for Telugu Vari Atma Gauravam, the self-respect of the Telugu community, Vangaveeti family member objected the same.
Vangaveeti Narayana Rao's son Narendra, who contested the Vijayawada East constituency in the 2019 General elections has a few objections on naming Vijayawada after NTR. The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader said that the district should be named after Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
Vangaveeti Narendra gave a reason behind placing the demand. The Vangaveeti family members said that it would be appropriate to name Vijayawada after Vangaveti Mohana Ranga who sacrificed his life fighting for the people.
"It will be appropriate if the district is named after Mohana Ranga, who sacrificed his life for Krishna District and People. The district should be named after the deceased leader for the sacrifices he made. We have earlier demanded the same. But the government did not consider the request and named Vijayawada after NTR," Vangaveeti Narendra said.
Talking about the same, Radha-Ranga Mitra Mandali President Vangaveeti Narendra demanded the government to change the district name and name it after Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
Before the 2019 General Elections, Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised to rename the Krishna district after the late NTR. However, the Andhra Pradesh government had made the temple city Vijayawada a district, and the Krishna district was formed without the city. Machilipatnam city has been picked as the district headquarters of the newly made Krishna district
