Sourav Ganguly, Former Team India captain and President of Cricket Association of Bengal (Cab) has filed his nomination for BCCI ( Board of Control For Cricket In India) President position. Reportedly Ganguly is all set to win this position unanimously as no one has filed the nomination for the presidency. This sparkled debates on the difficulties he faces and the reforms he introduces in BCCi among fans. Meanwhile, a new topic was put forth by netizens on social media.
It's an open secret that the rift between Head Coach Ravi Sastri and Ganguly is undying. Ravi Sastri made many direct and indirect allegations on Ganguly that he was the main reason for rejecting him as the head coach in 2016. Interestingly, Ganguly kept his silence on these allegations. Netizens and Ganguly fans are seeing this as a potential chance to show his revenge. Some netizens even commented that Ganguly will remove Ravi and appoint another former Indian batsman in his position. Let's have a look at the incident that happened between Ganguly and Ravi Sastri
BCCI has formed a Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC) with likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman for the selection of the head coach for India. As part of this, the committee has called for interviews for candidates. However, Ravi Shastri attended the interview via Skype call as he was not in India. While Sachin and Laxman were ok with the interview, Ganguly opposed it severely. "The coach position is not easy. How can we appoint a person as Coach who can't even appear for the interview?", asked Ganguly.
He even made other members agree to appoint former spinner Anil Kumble as the head coach reportedly. Ravi Sastri was even vocal about Ganguly's decision. After Anil Kumble stepped down as Head Coach, CAC has appointed Ravi Sastri as the head coach. As Ravi Sastri is the only better option left with CAC among the applicants this issue was sorted. According to the reports, Ganguly might be the new BCCI President. This news led to a lot of memes and jokes about Ravi Sastri's future.
