The whole world was shocked by the deadly train collision in Odisha. Hundreds of victims breathed their last and hundreds of others sustained injuries. Many say that this is the most deadly train accident the country saw in the past few years. Three trains collided leaving a disastrous situation. Bogies are all over the place on the railway tracks.

The train mishap happened when a train lost the track and its bogies made the other two trains crash. No words can describe the shocking scenes created by the train collision. There was blood on the tracks and many victims were trapped under the bogies. Special teams were roped in for the rescue operations and the injured victims were sent to the hospitals.

Amid this Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is facing severe criticism and there is a growing demand for his resignation. The opposition parties are blaming him for the mishap and demand his resignation for this.

When there is a big demand for his resignation, people are remembering Railway Ministers who earlier resigned taking moral responsibility when such a thing happened. As many as five Ministers resigned taking the moral responsibility. Let us know about the former Railway Ministers.

Lal Bahadur Shastri: Mr. Shastri is an eminent personality who held key positions like Prime Minister and Union Minister. Lal Bahadur Shastri also served as the Union Railway Minister. In 1956, a big train accident happened leaving around 140 people dead in Tamil Nadu. Taking responsibility for the Ariyalur train accident, he resigned from his portfolio.

Nitish Kumar: People know him as the Bihar Chief Minister who came to power in two consecutive terms. But many might don't know that he served as the Union Railway Minister. During Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure, Nitish Kumar was the Minister. However, in 1999 Assam saw a big Train mishap. He took responsibility for the incident and resigned.

Mamata Banerjee: Iron lady Mamata Banerjee is enjoying a massive following in West Bengal and she even managed to defeat the BJP despite an aggressive campaign from Narenerd Modi, Amit Shah, and others. Before becoming the CM, she served as the Railway Minister. When a train accident happened in 2000, she resigned from her portfolio. However, her resignation was not approved.

Suresh Prabhu: He is a senior BJP leader who was made the Railway Minister when BJP came to power in 2014. He served as the Minister for three years. When he was the Minister, a few train accidents happened leaving around 150 people dead. He stepped down from his post.

Madhu Dandavate: The veteran politician served as the Union Railway Minister. When he was serving as the Minister a big accident happened. Madhu took the moral responsibility and resigned as the Minister.
