Special Category Status was announced for the divided Andhra Pradesh as Hyderabad was given to Telangana state. It's been more than eight years since the bifurcation happened. Categorically, the union government has been saying that Special Category Status is a finished chapter. YSRCP which promised to fight for SCS is not making any fight for it.

The Special Status is in discussion now as Tollywood actress Poonam Kaur asked if political differences resulted in the Special category getting denied. She asked this question to AP Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath at the South First's Dakshin Dialogues 2022 Conclave held the other day.

Highlighting how crucial the Special status is for the state, Poonam Kaur asked whether the political differences played a role in not implementing the status granted by the bifurcation. The Minister gave a casual response and said the Chief Minister is trying his best.

The Congress party granted the Special Category after bifurcating the state. However, it lost the power in Lok Sabha polls., BJP came into power and Narendra Modi himself assured the status at a meeting in the temple city Tirupati. But the category was not granted.

When the government changed in the state, YSRCP has been trying hard to keep cordial relations with the Centre. Whenever a bill is tabled in the house, the party offers its support without any discussion.
