The BJP, which lost power in Maharashtra after it failed to muster numbers during the floor test, is sitting pretty. It is watching the drama of dissidence unfold in the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress camp keenly.
The dissidence is more in both Shiv Sena and the Congress. Minister Abdul Sattar is already threatening to leave the party. Another MLA Anil Barbar too is unhappy and sources say that he has already opened channels with the BJP. He has already talked to the BJP leaders and may soon come out with his future plans. Another key Shiv Sena leader and editor of Saamna, Sanjay Raut, is also unhappy as his brother Sunil Raut has not been given a minister’s post. NCP too has its share of unhappy people. Prakash Solanki, MLA from Beed in Marathwada region, has resigned from his post after his name did not figure in the list of ministers.
So confused was Uddhav that though the swearing in took place days ago, he waited till Saturday to announce the portfolios of the ministers. He spoke to every MLA and tried to mollify them. Only after having wider consultations did he announce the portfolios.
