As the ongoing violence triggered by the economical crisis in Sri Lanka is showing no sign of getting reduced, the situation forced Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to step down from the key post. After the party collapsed, due to his resignation, the nation saw intense protests and an MP is believed to have died in the protests.

The protestors in the island nation Sri Lanka who are protesting to demanding the resignation of Mahinda Rajapaksa have celebrated the news and called for celebrations. To display their anger against him, his family home was set on fire and the majority of the house was damaged in the attack.

Joining the forces, many people in Tamil Nadu are celebrating Mahinda Rajapaksa's resignation and his house damage. Many wonder what connection Tamil Nadu people have with the Prime Minister of other nations and how are they concerned about the news anyway.

The link goes back a decade back. The Tamil Militant outfit which was founded to fight for the rights of Tamilians settled in Sri Lanka Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE) was completely destroyed by the Sri Lankan government back in 2009. Mahinda Rajapaksa was President back then.

After the Tamilians started fighting for their rights and giving a warning to the government, then-President Mahinda Rajapaksa called for the military forces to take on the LTTE forces. He made sure that the LTTE gets eradicated from the nation.

The camps and areas where LTTE supporters and Tamilians stay were bombed the forced and many people were killed in the attack. As Velupillai Prabhakaran, aka LTTE Prabhakaran, was also killed, no such movement was made in the nation after the intense battle.

The LTTE was adamant about fighting for the rights of Tamilians to a level that it could not digest the fact that the former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi supported Sri Lanks in the civil war and signed the Indo-Sri Lanka accord which says that Tamilians were wrong in this regard. The LTTE planned the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and killed him at a political event through an RDX bomb.

As many Tamilians did not forget what the Sri Lanka government did to the LTTE, they are celebrating the step down of Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Sri Lankan Prime Minister.
