All the key Congress leaders are in Delhi on Saturday. The reason? The Congress high command is likely to decide on the next PCC chief in Telangana. Ever since incumbent PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy indicated that he was not willing to continue any more especially after the humiliating defeat of his wife Padmavathi Reddy in the Huzurnagar bypolls, there is a rush among the senior Congressmen to step into his shoes. While both Uttam and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are in Delhi to attend the PCC and CLP chiefs meet, other leaders too have shifted to the national capital to lobby for their case.
Revanth Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and others are already lobbying hard for the job. Meanwhile, Sangareddy MLA Turpu Jagga Reddy too has thrown his hat in the ring. He has shot off a letter to the high command requesting them to consider him for the PCC chief post. Komatireddy has already met GhulamNabi Azad to plead for his case. Senior leader V Hanumath Rao, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, MLA Sampath, former CLP leader Jana Reddy and Revanth Reddy are said to be in the race for the PCC chief..
The PCC chief would be from either the Reddy community, which is the dominant political community in Telangana or from the BC community, a numerically strong and politically influential group. The Congress High Command is likely to announce the PCC chief in a day or two.
