He is also growing his hair. His hair is now almost touching his shoulders. From politicians down to commentariat, everyone is trying to find a reason and a rationale for Modi's beard.
Some are arguing that Modi is growing his beard because of Ayodhya temple construction. He may be having a vow to fulfil, they say.
