Will Chandrababu Naidu be arrested in Amaravati land scam case?

Is the noose tightening around TDP chief and former minister Chandrababu Naidu? Is the Amaravati land scam case filed by Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy being used to corner Chandrababu Naidu? Is there a plan to put him behind the bars and make the TDP money bags scurry for cover? Is it all aimed at cutting off the financial supply lines of the TDP ahead of the 2024 elections?

Based on RK's complaint, a case has been filed under Sections 120 B, 420, 34, 35, 36, 164 and 165 along with the Anti Corruption Act. Former CM Chandrababu Naidu has been kept as A1, while former minister P Narayana is A2. In addition, 14 others have also been booked in the case.

Political watchers say that the government wants to put Chandrababu Naidu behind the bars. It also wants to ensure that the financial resources of the TDP are cut off or hindered by these arrests. Though the TDP argues that these cases do not stand the test of the law and that even if arrested, Chandrababu will be able to secure a bail quickly, the YSRCP sources feel that these cases would pin down Chandrababu and the TDP.

Interestingly, even Narayana was arrested in connection with question paper leakage and not Amaravati land scam, sources say. However, the idea is to trouble and torment the TDP top brass so that they are forced into defensive mode. The move is also reportedly aimed at weakening the agitation of the Amaravati farmers, who want the Jagan government to implement the High Court order on developing Amaravati city.
