Finally at long last, the Congress and Shiv Sena has found an answer to rapid-fire rabble-rousing actress Kangna Ranaut, who is breathing fire at the Shiv Sena-led government. It's the Rangeela Girl Urmila Matondkar. Now, by making her an MLC, the Shiv Sena wants to field her against Kangna in the war of words.
Urmila, a Ram Gopal Varma protégé in films and a Rahul fan in politics, contested on the Congress ticket from Mumbai with disastrous results. She lost badly and the BJP candidate , Gopal Shetty, won by a huge margin. Since then, Urmila remained politically quiet. She blamed the groupism in the Congress as being responsible for her defeat and said the party leaders did not cooperate with her during the campaign. She later resigned from the Congress Party.
But, she was the only film star who opposed Kangna Ranaut's comments on Mumbai. When Kangna called Mumbai worse than PoK, it was Urmila who took her on and entered into a wordy duel with her. Impressed by her polemics, the Shiv Sena approached her with a request to join politics. Urmila joined Shiv Sena the other day and now she has been rewarded with an MLC post under the Governor's quota. So, expect starry fights in Mumbai in the coming days as Kangla and Urmila spar each other.
