Uranium mining is suddenly the toast of the season for the politicians. A massive campaign has been unleashed on the social media with both TRS and the Congress actively opposing the mining. Telangana CM KCR has categorically opposed the mining and said that he was ready for a confrontation with the Centre on the issue.
But, here is the most interesting part of the story. The Congress gave permission for the uranium mining in Kadapa district. In fact, the permission was given by the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Later, permissions were again given by the TRS government. Now, both the Congress and the TRS are strongly opposing the mining.
But one wonders whether this opposition would end up meeting the same fate as that of KCR's opposition to metro project near Sultan Bazar? In fact, as an opposition leader, KCR has vehemently opposed the laying of Metro rail lane in Sultan Bazar. But, the moment he became the CM, he quietly gave permission to the metro project in Sultan Bazar. KCR never ever talked about Sultan Bazar
