Will Kiran Kumar Reddy's entry benefit BJP?

Amid reports that former chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is all set to join the BJP, there is an intense debate as to what would be the advantage of this move. The question being asked is who will this benefit – the BJP or Kiran Kumar Reddy? There are lingering doubts as to whether this move will benefit the BJP in any which way.
Kiran Kumar Reddy has been in the wilderness since 2014 and has not made any attempt to connect with the voters either of his home constituency of Piler or elsewhere in the Telugu states. He has not kept in touch with any leader in the state. It is another matter that he had met both Sonia Gandhi and some key BJP leaders.
The BJP hopes that his entry could bring the Reddy community closer to the party in both the states. But, his hold on the Reddy community is a matter of debate. Many feel that he has no hold over the community, which now strongly roots for the YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh and is relatively more inclined towards the Congress in Telangana.
More importantly, Kiran Kumar Reddy's role during the runup to the formation of Telangana is likely to haunt him in Telangana. He is still being perceived as anti-Telangana in Telangana state. So, his entry could actually prove to be counter productive for the party, which is hoping to make a mark in the 2023 elections in Telangana.
