The Congress Party is obviously piqued by the popularity that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is getting due to Corona lockdown. His approval ratings have gone up exponentially and recent telephonic surveys have shown that his popularity is surging.
On the other hand, the Congress has no issue to go tothe people and badly out of sync with the general public. To regain the lost initiative, the Congress Party has on Thursday opened a front against the BJP government. Sonia Gandhi who chaired a Congress Working Committee meet, wanted the Government to spell out the action plan to provide relief to the poor and the marginalised people, who, it said, were affected by the lockdown. Some smart alecs in the Congress Party wanted Rahul Gandhi to hold a video conference with Congress CMs, Congress Legislature Party leaders and PCC chiefs on Corona lockdown. Rahul Gandhi, in his typical style, nixed the idea and said that since he has no jurisdiction as he is no longer the Congress president.
But with Modi all over the place with his review meetings, video messages and tweets, can Congress hope to wrest initiative back from him? Let's wait and watch what the Congress does!!
