Will YS Sharmila contest the elections from Khammam? This is the hottest question being raised in the political circles. Sharmila's heightened interest in Khammam and her frequent meeting with the leaders from Khammam district are being touted as the indications that she has some ideas on Khammam.
Interestingly, she has met leaders from Khammam several times at her Lotus Pond residence. She had also planned a massive rally in Khammam on February 21. But the programme had to be deferred due to some reasons. Now, her supporters are planning a huge rally in March. Sources say that there are two reasons for her interest in Khammam. Khammam has a significant chunk of Andhra settler vote. Many parts of Khammam have closer affinity with Andhra rather than Telangana. In fact, the best performance of the YSRCP in Telangana was from Khammam district, where it had won an MP seat and two MLA seats. The second reason is that her husband Bro. Anil hails from Khammam district. So, she can safely claim to be a daughter-in-law of this district and claim an affinity with Khammam.
If sources are to be believed, YS Sharmila is planning to hold a massive public meeting and a rally in Khammam in March or April. She is said to be in touch with Khammam district incharge Lakkineni Sudhir, who has a long family history of active politics in the district.
