With the TDP boss Chandrababu undertaking an overhaul of the party's politburo, speculations are rife that senior leader and several times MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary would be accommodated in the highest decision making body of the party. His long association with the party might pay off, according to sources close to the TDP.
Butchaiah has always been a suspect in the eyes of Chandrababu Naidu. He was an out-and-out NTR loyalist and was one of the last leaders to leave Lakshmi Parvathi. He was one of the eight MLAs who remained with NTR Telugu Desam even after NTR's demise. Hence, even after he rejoined Chandrababu camp, the TDP boss did not give him politburo post. Despite his seniority and political acumen, he has been kept out of the party's inner core.
But with the resignation of Galla Aruna, there is a section in the party which feels that Butchaiah Chowdary would be accommodated in the Politburo. However, already there are many claimants for the post. Leaders like Narendra Dhulipalla are vying for the post. It remains to be seen whether Butchaiah gets his due.
